Education

I graduated from Breckinridge County High School in 1983.

In 1995, I attended WKU in Bowling Green. I graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Soon after, I began on my Master's Degree, and graduated with a certification for it in 2002. I kept right on going and got my certification for my Rank I in Elementary Education in 2005.

In 1999, right after graduation, I began my teaching career at Hardinsburg Elementary School. I was an emergency/permanent substitute in a Special Education Classroom with five first & second graders. I worked at H.E.S. for one year and then was hired on at Irvington Elementary School in August of 2000. I have been here ever since. Irvington Elementary is a wonderful school with wonderful students and staff. It is my home and I love everything about it!!

We are a very caring school!

Experience

When I began my teaching career, I was at Hardinsburg Elementary School. I taught Special Education for one year as an emergency substitute. I also did substitute teaching at H.E.S. and I.E.S. throughout the year.

I was hired at I.E.S., in August of 2000 to teach first grade. After teaching first grade for 2 years, the district decided to change our grade levels and combine them. I taught kindergarten/first grade for about 5 years, and then was moved to first/second. I taught this grade level for 3 years, and then went back to kindergarten/first grade for 3 more years.

Our district decided we could go back to single grade levels, so when we went back to first grade, I was moved back. This year, we are in a situation where we are having some split grades again. I am back teaching K/1 this year. I am really excited about the change! I will have some kindergarteners and some first graders. I really feel like the kindergarteners will learn so much from the older students. This will in turn, help move the younger students on to success. The students have changed and grown so much from their preschool years. They have soooo much to learn and soak up in their eager little minds. This is going to be a great year!!

I am always sooo excited to begin our new year and see their smiling faces!

Bio

I am a life-long resident of Breckinridge County. I have been married to my husband, Kenneth Critchelow, for 34 years. We have two beautiful daughters, Krisney and Jenny.  I also have four precious granddaughters, Avery, Kylie, Khloe and Shea. I also now have two grandsons...Bentley and Keaton. As you can see, I am a very busy Mammaw, but they  are the joys of my life!

We live in Hardinsburg on a mini-farm that overlooks the Ohio River, where we have chickens, pigs, pigeons and many cats. I also have a Jack~Russell puppy that takes a lot of my time.

I enjoy doing yardwork, reading in my swing and spending time with my girls. As a family, we enjoy boating on the river and grilling out. We also enjoy being at the ballpark with the grand daughters, going to the beach and swimming in our pool.
