IES Family and Friends,

The first day of school is in the books, and it was a fabulous day! All the smiling faces and new outfits and shoes the kids were wearing simply made my day! And, for the record, this was the "official" first day of school in the new IES building! How exciting!

There's nothing quite like the beginning of a new school year. The anticipation of meeting your classmates, learning new schedules, experiencing new routines, and getting that sense of belonging to a new team is something very special.

We as a staff are so excited to start a new journey with your child and your family. Irvington Elementary School is a wonderful place for fun and learning.

We talked this afternoon at our school wide assembly how excited we are to welcome familiar faces and new ones alike. We are blessed to be working with you and your children and look forward to another wonderful year at IES.

I want to personally thank each of you for your part in making today one of the smoothest first days I can remember!

In the coming weeks and months of the school year, you can expect to get updates and important information via the Notify Me communication system. You are receiving this message because you are signed up, but if you know anyone who isn't, please let them know this is the very best way to stay ¨in the loop¨ with what's going on at our great school.

As always, the first day of school means a little homework for our parents/guardians. Make sure to check the backpacks for the purple folder as it contains some forms and other information for you to fill out and return to us as soon as possible. Thanks for all your help with this! If you have any questions or want more information about anything that came home this afternoon, don't hesitate to give us a call.

This purple folder will act as the "Wildcat Wire," a weekly folder sent home each Thursday with important information and communication between the school and home. Please make a point to check the backpacks each night, but especially on Thursdays!

Thanks again for being a vital part in your child's education. We look forward to working with you in the weeks and months to come.

Working together toward success for all,

Jon Miller, IES Principal
