Irvington Elementary School

IES Family and Friends,

I hope each of you were able to enjoy some rest and relaxation over our recent Spring Break.  I am sure the students enjoyed the time off!  While we are always happy to get a break from school, it's also good to get back to work toward our end-of-year testing.  In the coming weeks, we'll be doing a lot of review as we head down the home stretch.  I know our students and staff have worked extremely hard this year, and we look forward to showing everything we've learned on the K-PREP state assessment.    The dates for this year assessment are May 12-16.  Please make every attempt to have any appointments scheduled not be during our testing period.

Next week we'll begin our last of 3 MAP Assessments.  We will look at the results of this assessment and compare it to the other MAP test results from earlier this year.  MAP provides us with great data to see our students' progress.  It is also a good indicator of how students will perform on the end-of-the-year KPREP Assessment.  Be sure to remind your child to work very hard and give their best effort on the MAP test in the coming weeks.

Also next week, we'll be welcoming "Larry Like Lincoln."  He is an Abe Lincoln impersonator who talks with students about important events in history.  He'll be here on Friday, so be sure to ask your students about seeing this famous president!

We are also excited about other end-of-year activities.  Our field day, awards ceremonies, sports and academic banquet, and other activities will be planned in the near future.  Please be sure to check your child's backpacks and our school website for specific dates.  We are in the process of finalizing those plans, and will get the information out to you as soon as we can.

Thanks for everything you do for the students and staff of Irvington Elementary School.  We are truly blessed to have such a great school and community.

Working together toward success for all,

Jon Miller, Principal
